Metropolitan Chicago consistently ranks as having the nation's second largest black ethnic population. Only New York boasts a larger black population. Recent census estimates show that the Chicago Metropolitan Market has over 1.5 million black consumers. Within the City of Chicago, blacks account for nearly 40% of the City's population.
